Throughout the year, Shear Outback and the lively citizens of Hay feature an exciting and ongoing spectacle of events, exhibitions, concerts, and educational experiences. At Shear Outback, there are shearing competitions, speed shears, working dog trials, industry events, field days, contemporary photography and art exhibitions, launches, dinners and more. Visitors love to see all the passion and energy of the colourful and energetic shearing fraternity erupt into a variety of tributes, trials, contests, yarns, and songs: - not to mention the exciting national shearing competitions where new records are set.

The Shear Outback Temporary Exhibition Gallery features an ever changing program of visiting exhibitions. The offerings in the gallery change approximately every two months and there is always an exciting and invigorating exhibition just around the corner! Shear Outback also runs an ongoing program of Pastoral Heritage Tours - the 2009/10  program will be announced in early June.

Hay’s regular Calendar of Events include the exciting Hay Races in November, Open Gardens on the magnificent pastoral properties in spring, Sheep and Cattle Sales, the Booligal Sheep Races on the October Long Weekend and more besides.
